For Easter, Boy and I were gifted some Easter cash, so I used my share of the money to buy a couple of DVD sets. After all, during this time of Boy’s unemployment, what’s better than cheap entertainment? Since they were on sale, I bought a couple of seasons of How I Met Your Mother (which I have mentioned before) and you know what? I think I have a bit of a crush on Jason Segel.
Even though Freaks & Geeks is one of my favourite shows, I’ve never particularly cared about him before, but on this show, he totally does it for me. Something about his humour and good natured dorkiness has won me over. Plus I kind of love the fact that he sings crazy little songs which is something that I do in real life. I mean how can you not love a dude who sings an entire song about slapping?
Maybe it makes me an easy mark, but if a dude makes me laugh, I find him that much more attractive. This is actually part of what made me really dig Boy on our first date. When I arrived to meet him, I thought he was cute, but I held back because I had dated plenty of good looking but horribly humourless guys*. It was only when he made some silly reference to a Far Side cartoon (Boneless Chicken Ranch) and made me laugh, I knew I was hooked.
As an added bonus, I’m including a clip of Jason Segel giving 7 random tidbits about himself . . .
and of Jason Segel AND Paul Rudd** on The Hour with George Stromboulopoulos. Three hot dudes for the price of one!
* When I was in college, I dated a dude who looked sort of like a cross between Robert Pattinson and that Nate Berkus guy who hangs out with Oprah. I remember my mom saying to me “Your boyfriend is cute but he doesn’t look like he’s ever laughed at a joke in his life.” It was a little bit true.
**At Sally and Jack’s wedding last year, a girl came up and was convinced Boy looked like Paul Rudd. While I don’t think this is true, I at least appreciate the hot husband comparison.
