I thought I would post a little song this morning. I am very much an emotional music listener and how I feel directly dictates what I feel like hearing. So I am posting something has helped me keep perspective recently – it’s a little tune by a band called Noah and the Whale called “Blue Skies”. I am posting two versions of this song because both have been highly played on my iPod the past few weeks.
Version One: Blue Skies (The Album Cut)
This first version I heard around the time we lost my cousin. It is kind of soft and and a lot more orchestral sounding and weirdly enough the video kind of acknowledges the loss of a loved one.
Version Two: Blue Skies (The Twelves Remix)
The second version I heard not too long after. It is a lot funkier and something about it feels a lot more optimistic and upbeat.
I didn’t really like the second version that much when I first heard it, but lately I’ve kind of taken to it as sort of a personal anthem.
Sometimes when you’re sad, it’s really easy to let that sadness just absorb everything else. And while it’s okay to be sad, and it’s important to be sad, as time passes, it’s also important to remember all the great and happy things that are happening and that will happen around you.
So as kind of a weird interactive thing, I’m going to ask you readers to take a listen to either one or both of the versions I have posted and write what you’re happy or excited about right now or what you’re looking forward to in the future.
Here’s to the happy days ahead. 🙂
