Ahoyhoy fair readers! I had a vacation day yesterday so I took a little break from the keyboard and went shopping with my mom (aw!). But, as is the case with the start of every week, I am back and ready to update on my list progress. Last week was pretty good and I managed to get stuff done, but this week, I’ve got to admit, was a bit of a slow one. Anyway, here’s where I stand this week:
1. Get new job – In Progress.
This one is incredibly frustrating for me right now. I had an interview a few weeks ago where I know I kicked ass. I mean, before the end of the interview, the interviewer was talking about setting up another appointment with me. It has been almost a month and, even though I have e-mailed to check in, I have heard nothing so I’m assuming that it is now a lost cause. So, I’ve continued to search. If I am making headway, I cannot see where. This sucks.
3. Start jewelry making again – Done/In Progress.
I pulled out my supplies this weekend and made my first full necklace. It was harder than I remember, especially because I no longer have the dexterity I once did in my left hand (the accident damaged some nerves and it’s hard to grip things) but I struggled through and I finished it which I’m proud of. Plus, I got an e-mail from Zoe and she loved the necklace I put together for her. I didn’t want to spill the beans on this blog just in case she read it, but she wrote a blog post where she described her baby’s heartbeat as sounding like hummingbird wings flapping so I tracked down a hummingbird pendant for her. 🙂
9. Read 10 YA titles – In Progress.
I boned this one up last update because I miscounted in my head. I have only read four so far but I am starting a 5th one so I’ll be half way then.
20. Get a Toronto Library Card – In Progress.
I am planning to do this one this week. I’m hoping it will help me to save a little bit of money since I am such a book fiend. Last time I went into the bookstore, I walked out with 7 different titles! Granted, I could be spending my money on worse things and I did manage to score a bunch of discounted books, but it’s still a chunk of change every month.
45. Make it to level 80 in WOW – In Progress.
Because we’d both had an insane week, Boy and I opted to stay in on Saturday and rest which lead to some good WOW time. We got our asses killed about a million times during a dugeon quest (and once when we got distracted discussion movie times – whoops!), but we made it up to Level 50! Hooray!
48. Buy new bikini – In Progress.
A couple of years ago, I bought a sweet bikini in New York. It was aqua and white and kind of reminiscent of the one Halle Berry wore in that Bond Movie. But I seem to have lost it, so now I’m on the hunt for a new one. Yesterday’s plan was to go bathing suit shopping with my mom since we could provide each other with support, but when we went to do it, I felt too cranky and rather than subject anyone to that, I opted out instead. So, I have resorted to looking online. I’ve seen a few cute ones so far, but right now, I’m trying to wait until payday/the exchange rate isn’t so crappy. The other day, I had to buy something and it was $0.75 which really stung!*
12. Write 500 blog posts – In Progress.
This blog post is my 160th one since I started this blog and it puts me 32 per cent of the way to my goal so hooray!
29. Open a savings account and actually save money – In Progress.
Boy and I had a follow-up meeting with his father and we decided that we’re going to open up Tax-Free Savings Accounts with a little nest egg from his grandmother. Because I earn so little at my job, I won’t be able to contribute to mine for a while, but I’m hoping that soon as I start making a little more money, I will be able to arrange with the bank to start automatically withdrawing some crash from my account every month to put towards a downpayment or something. Very exciting!
51. Take the stairs and the stairs only for three months – In Progress (Sort Of).
Okay, so I might be on the weeny looking side of skinny, but lately I’ve been realizing that I am really out of shape. Like I get ridiculously winded doing menial tasks. So I’m building up to this one. I always take the stairs in the building we live in since we’re only on the second floor, but to get to my office is 10 flights of stairs so I’m taking my time and building my endurance. I climb up the stairs and least half of the time and if I’m going down I always take the stairs instead of the elevator, so I’m hoping by the time May or June hits, I’ll be able to start this one in earnest.
73. Swear off chocolate and pop for 40 days – In Progress.
This one is still in progress (I think I’m about halfway through now) and aside from one monster craving for a mint Aero bar the other day (I freakin’ love those!), I’ve been doing really well and barely noticed the absence of sugar in my diet. Go me!
88. Go to a hockey game – Done!
I will write more about this later today because it was semi-ridiculous, but I can now call myself a respectable Canadian since I caught the Marlies game on Sunday.
99. Ditch knapsack and get a nice professional bag for work – Still Done!
I did this one a few weeks ago, but I wanted to update because I’m shocked at the difference it’s made. My old bag was overloaded and had nonexistant backsupport so when I got the new one, I decided to make some changes. With the padding and the reduced weight, I’ve been feeling so much better, it’s astounding. Plus the bag is supercute!
Anyway, that’s been my week of progress. I hope everyone else who’s working on a list has had a good one as well.
*Boy works for an American company, so when the exchange rate is rougher, he gets a better paycheck so I guess that kind of makes up for it.
