Okay, so I have the permanent list posted in a tab at the top of the page, but I figured that since there are so many other people doing this (including a few people I know), it might be good to do regular updates about what I’ve managed to accomplish and what I have ahead to do.
So without further ado, my recent list items:
1. Get new job – In Progress.
I had a promising interview last week and I was told by someone that a company I had previously dealt with might have some more openings. This is going to be ongoing for a while, but it’s nice to feel like I’m making some headway.
3. Start jewelry making again – In Progress.
When I was younger I used to bead all the time and I recently got the yen to do it again. So I went online and bought a couple of things for it. I still need to hit the local store for hardware and whatnot, but I have a gameplan and that is what matters. The first project on tap? A necklace for my lovely pregnant friend Zoe.
9. Read 10 YA titles – In Progress.
If my goal is to work in children’s/YA publishing, I have to know what I’m talking about so I have started reading YA novels. So far I’ve read two
(Boyproof by Cecil Castellucci and The Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl by Barry Lyga) but I’m currently in the middle of reading two more.
10. Make CD for Tara – In Progress.
A little while ago, I made the offer to make a CD the lovely pregnancy bedbound blogger Tara of Two Wishes. I let a million things get in my way of actually accomplishing it, but I’m currently writing out the tracklist and hope to burn and design a cover for the thing this week. Hooray!
12. Write 500 blog posts – In Progress.
This is officially the 118th blog post I’ve written on this site which means I’m over a fifth of the way there. I just hope I can manage to be funny and interesting enough for 382 more of these damn things. 😛
17. Audition for movie – Done!
I auditioned for Scott Pilgrim on Valentine’s Day.
40. Play my way through at least 6 video games start to finish – In Progress.
I am not really the primary videogamer in the house and usually prefer to sit and watch Boy plow through since he is more skilled/less of a button masher than I am, but I recently picked up Knights of the Old Republic and started playing through that so I’m hoping I’ll be able to finish that myself.
Sidenote: Does anyone else find it kind of sad that the Star Wars video games are better written than the new set of movies. It totally makes me feel like George Lucas just kind of scored a fluke with the original set.
45. Make it to level 80 in WOW – In Progress.
Boy and I play together and are currently level 43 Taurans. We’ve been playing pretty steadily and making some good progress just the two of us, However, at a party this weekend, we met another WOW couple and have talked about adventuring with them which could be pretty fun since it’d totally help with dugeon raids. Score!
46. Try 10 new restaurants – In Progress.
In Toronto, since there are so many restaurants, you sometimes fall into a funk of eating where you know but my friend Courtney suggested we try this place called Nirvana this weekend and it was really good. Not only was the food supertasty (fried shrimp wontons in a curry sauce!) but it was cheap as hell! 2 appetizers, 3 entrees and 2 pitchers came to like $50!
65. Look into getting health insurance outside of a job – In Progress.
Boy’s dad sells insurance so we have a meeting with him this weekend to explore our options on this front. Boy works for an American company and I might have to take a contract job, so we wanted to be prepared and cover ourselves.
74. Watch more educational television. (History/Discovery/Animal Planet etc.) – In Progress.
I will write more about this later, but our Valentine’s Day plans ended up revolving around watching educational television with interesting
results . . . (they also included Mexican food-yum!)
99. Ditch knapsack and get a nice professional bag for work – In Progress.
Since I only get paid once a month, this has been temporarily put on hold, but I have started looking and come next month, I hope to score a proper replacement. I am also including purchasing a new wallet along with the bag because Boy often makes fun of mine and refers to it as a “George Costanza Wallet” because I’m horrible about cleaning it out.
Anyway, that’s all the progress I’ve made so far. If you’re working on your own list, feel free to mention it/link to it in the comments and we can help kick eachother’s asses to the finish line.
