Okay, I’m a little video game heavy today, but this news was just so bizarre that I had to share it with people.
This week, Joystiq is reporting that Merscom and everyone’s favourite sappy women’s network Lifetime are joining together to release a total of four games based on Lifetime properties.
I’ve got to admit, as ridiculous as this sounds, I am sickly fascinated by it and kind of want to see the finished products.
I mean I certainly don’t know how they’re going to turn all those cancer/eating disorder/rape/teen pregnancy stories into playable game levels, but it’s kind of amazing to think about how there’s going to be an entire team of people writing hacky game dialogue scripts and translating Nancy McKeon‘s face into pixels. Plus, it’s nice to think of them giving people like Stephanie Zimbalist, Gail O’Grady, Park Overall and Tracey Gold some voice work. After all, the Growing Pains money won’t last forever!
So what say you, audience? Do you have any guilty pleasure Lifetime movies that you think are crying out for a video game adaptation or do you think those crazy TV nuts should come to their senses already and drop the idea altogether?
(True confession: In the eighth grade, I convinced my mom to let me stay up late to work on a science project, but I ended up blowing off the bristol board fest to watch the movie No One Would Tell starrring Candace Cameron(-Bure) and Fred Savage. Unfortunately for me, instead of being the heartwarming tale about first love I first suspected, good ol’ Kevin Arnold ended up killing poor DJ Tanner in a fit of rage. Yikes!)
