For a moment, I thought about putting this under the “Well That’s A Bad Idea” heading, but right now, I’ve got to admit, I’m intrigued by this idea so I’m waiting to see how the buzz plays out.
It seems that we horor fans are about to embark on a new era of zombiedom as the soon to be released book Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is the subject of the latest bidding war in Hollywood.
The parody, written by Seth Grahame-Smith and set to be released in April, is said to feature Elizabeth Bennet and her four sisters being trained in kung fu by Mr. Darcy before setting out across the English countryside to kick zombie ass. Needless to say, as this is an original idea in a sea of remakes, studios are clamouring for the property.
If you thought this version of Elizabeth Bennet looked dirty, just wait until you see her covered in zombie gore.
But don’t expect it to stop there. With this trend of petticoated tea drinking zombies upon us, versions of spooked up the Bronte Sisters books are also in the works with retellings of Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre expected.
More details can be found here, but as someone who read Wuthering Heights in high school and found it to be absolute hell, I’m hopeful throwing a couple of brain-eaters into the mix might help make it a little more bearable.
