I don’t often find myself wishing I lived in Pittsburgh, but every so often, I’m jealous of the stuff they show at the Andy Warhol museum. And their latest exhibit? It features 100 reimagined Darth Vader masks by a bunch of cool contemporary artists!
Now I’m nowhere near as big a Star Wars geek as some people*, but I think it’s really cool that something as dominating and iconic as this mask could be transformed into something colourful or whimsical or fun. I mean take for example the picture I posted above. The spikes say “I will impale you!” but the glitteriness says “I dance to Donna Summer when you’re not looking!” It’s genius!
Anyway, if you’re in that area and interested, the exhibit runs from this Friday to May 3 and details can be found here.
*Although I do firmly stand behind the notion that Han shot first and that the original triology redux where they edit in Hayden Christensen is wrong. And do not even get me started on Episodes 1, 2, or 3, because as far as I’m concerned, they are not canon/never happened.
