I saw online the other day that the 1990s show Blossom was actually being released on DVD.
Can I make a confession here, readers? I used to totally love that show and took many style cue from its titular character. Big hats with flowers. Baby doll dresses. Vests. I wore them all, thanks to Mayim Bialik and her crazy tv influence on me. Plus, the show introduced me to the hip hop stylings of Salt ‘n’ Pepa* when they showed up at Blossom’s yard sale to buy one of her dad’s old jackets and ended up performing “Let’s Talk About Sex” on her mom’s birthday videotape! Anyone else remember that episode? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Okay, maybe no one else has as insane a memory about that kind of stuff as I do, but if you want some Blossom goodness to brighten your day there is an interview with the titular actor here (did you know she has a PhD in Neuroscience?) and you can watch the opening theme song here. You’re welcome, internet!
*Whatever happened to Spinderella? I always kind of felt like she was the Ringo of that group.
