Pardon me for that minor interruption of blogging productivity. I have returned from the coffee shop with tea in hand and am feeling a little better but am still worse for wear after the weekend. Well, something that happened during the weekend.
My entire life, I have been too tall, so much of my time is spent slouching. I crunch my shoulders and I hunch down a lot so this also tends to be the place where a lot of my tension goes.
I’ve known this for a while so I’ve been going to the chiropractor and getting massages on a pretty regular basis. Unfortunately, because of the holidays, my schedule got screwed up and I was only able to get in to see someone this past Saturday.
Since I hadn’t gone in over a month, I knew it was going to be pretty unconfortable, but nothing prepared me for what actually happened. As my masseur was working on my right shoulder, he somehow hit a spot that triggered a bunch of dormant tension or something and before I knew it, pain was shooting up from the spot in question to the right side of my neck and into my skull. It felt almost like someone had hit me as hard as they could in the temple with all ball-peen hammer and it was so intense, my eyes immediately welled up and tears came streaming down my face.
After I left the appointment, I felt better than I had in weeks, but later that day, I started getting these headaches with the same kind of pain I experienced in the massage and it’s been happening practically ever since.
I made another appointment for a massage to work out the rest of the tension, but I’ve been totally driven to distraction by it.
Has anyone else had this kind of a headache before? What did you do to relieve it?
