My books aren’t organized this badly, but I am running out of shelf space and our apartment contains five different bookcases.
At Christmas, Boy and I ended up getting gift certificates for Indigo/Chapters, the big book conglomerate here in Canada. This was awesome because you can use your discount card in conjunction with the gift cards and because after Christmas they have a gigantic sale during which all the hardcovers are 30 % off.
So once we returned from our holiday cycle, we hit the mall and I got four bagfuls worth of books to read. However, in spite of the cards being long gone, I can’t stop that mentality of grabbing books I want any time I go into a bookstore. Like for example yesterday, Boy has been collecting these reissued horror books from Penguin, so we popped into our local bookstore, me with the intention of not buying anything, and I still managed to leave with four books! Granted, they were all discount books, but I wasn’t supposed to get anything!
I know there are plenty of worse things I could spend my money on, so I at least realize that, but it’s like I am practically ravenous when it comes to the written word lately. Any time I see a book, I want to curl up with it in an almost predatory way, squeeze its cover in my hot little hands and devour all of its words in one delectable sitting.
Anyway, I think I’ve got enough to last me until the end of the month, but it’s still 9 days until pay day and I have 84 items on my Amazon wishlist, so wish me luck. My willpower is seriously questionable these days . . . 😛
